Velana International Airport (MLE) is the main international gateway. 

Facilities: The airport has various amenities, including duty-free shops, restaurants, and currency exchange services. Free Wi-Fi is available.

​​Exchanging Money: Currency can be exchanged at banks, authorized money exchange centers, and the airport. ATMs are available, but it's advisable to carry cash, especially in local islands.

For Men: Suits or dress pants with collared shirts; ties are recommended but not always necessary.
For Women: Professional dresses or blouses with skirts/slacks. Modest clothing is appreciated, particularly when visiting local islands.

Government Offices & Private Sector typical business hours are Sunday to Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
Many businesses may close earlier on Fridays, as it's a holy day. 

Punctuality

Punctuality is appreciated, but there may be some flexibility. It's best to arrive on time for meetings.

Meetings often start with greetings and small talk. Use formal titles and last names until invited to use first names. Exchanging business cards is common; present and receive them with both hands.

Healthcare facilities vary, with better services available in Malé. Comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies is highly recommended.

Pharmacies are available in Malé and other larger islands, offering both prescription and over-the-counter medications. It’s advisable to carry necessary medications with you.

Culture: The Maldives has a rich cultural heritage influenced by South Asian, Arab, and African traditions. Respect for local customs and traditions is essential, particularly regarding religion. 

Foods:
- Mas Huni: A traditional breakfast dish made with tuna, coconut, onion, and chili served with flatbread.
- Garudhiya: A fish soup served with rice, lime, and onions.
- Fihunu Mas: Grilled fish seasoned with local spices.
- Boshi Mashuni: A salad made with banana flowers, coconut, and spices.
